LeRoy Abshire is the custodian at St. Pius X Catholic Church where he is responsible for cleaning and maintenance duties in the church. On a mission to maintain an ordered house for our Lord and all who enter, LeRoy takes great care in his work. For LeRoy, working to keep the house of the Lord suitable for His presence is a privilege and a joy.

LeRoy also works as a bus driver for the Lafayette Parish School System for the past 19 years. Before taking on his role at St. Pius X, LeRoy worked as the manager of the St. Joseph Diner in downtown Lafayette, where he supervised volunteers and occasionally cooked. Prior to that, he worked at the Women’s Center, as a grant administrator and fundraiser.

In addition to being at St. Pius X since October 2017, LeRoy is also a husband and father of nine. He resides with his wife Barbara in Lafayette. LeRoy’s primary mission in life is living out his vocation as husband, father, and now grandfather of three.
