Eligibility requirements

The Child must:


  • Currently be in 2nd grade
  • If you are older and would like to make your First Communion, please register below, and then contact Mary Hindelang at maryh@stpiusxchurch.org for more information.
  • Have been baptized in the Catholic Church 
    *Exceptions, please contact Barbara Abshire at the Parish Office (337) 232-4656 ext. 216.

Participation requirements:


  • One parent (at least) is required to attend the First Communion Orientation Meeting (in December).
  • Children who are not members of St. Pius X Parish are required to submit a letter of permission from their pastor with their registration. The letter can be scanned and emailed to registrations@stpiusxchurch.org, faxed to (337)233-9468, or delivered to the Parish Office.

Registration for First Communion for the 2025-2026 school year is NOW OPEN.

First Communion Spring 2026

  • Please fill out the whole form. 
  • You will need a picture of your child’s Baptism Certificate to complete the form.
  • The First Communion Liturgies will be in the Spring of 2026 – the dates have not been set yet.
  • For Non-St. Pius Elementary School students, First Communion Prep classes will start in January.
  • For St. Pius Elementary School students, First Communion prep will be included as part of their Religion curriculum.
  • If your child is not in 2nd grade, we will contact you in August/September with more details about our options for older students.
  • The Parent Orientation meeting for First Communion will be in December.
  • If you have successfully completed the registration, you will receive a confirmation email with the subject line:
    • Registration Confirmation for First Communion Spring 2026
  • This Confirmation email will be the only correspondence you will receive until we send out our official email and message from Fr. Brady at the end of August – beginning of September, with more information.
