Divine Mercy Sunday Veneration | The Divine Mercy Devotion although taking root in the late 1930’s has remained unknown to many Catholics until the past two decades. With the support of Pope John Paul II, the devotion has grown worldwide including here in the U.S. Following the Pope’s lead, the Knights of Columbus chose to help spread this devotion to its Councils and their Parishes by sponsoring a year-long program of prayer in 2004. The hour of prayer replaced the customary Marian Hour of Prayer, held each year by the Knights of Columbus. Our KC Council here at St. Pius continues to spread and encourage participation by our families in this devotion, especially the annual recitation of the novena beginning on Good Friday. Materials are also available for you to take home, share, discuss the details of this unique devotion, and pray the novena with your family beginning on Good Friday. |
Enthronement of the Sacred Heart | Enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a devotion that takes place in your home and includes a brief ceremony facilitated by trained ministers. This devotion is an invitation to bring Jesus’ Heart full of love into your home, the domestic church. The ritual of the Enthronement is a two-fold action of installing a blessed image of the Sacred Heart in a prominent place in your home and making a covenant of love with Jesus. Our Lord in turn will honor this covenant by bestowing the 12 promises that he gave to St. Margaret Mary Alocoque (listed below). After scheduling your enthronement, you will receive more information including a 3 day novena which is to be prayed beforehand. Please call the parish office with any questions or to schedule your enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. For more information, please contact 337-232-4656 or [email protected]. |
Patriotic Rosary Group | This group meets each Tuesdays after the 12:05 p.m. Mass in the St. Peter Room of the Church. As Jesus said, “Where two or more are gathered together in My name, there am I in their midst” (Matt 18:19-20). So, when we pray together, we invite Jesus into our lives where He grants us the strength, the light and grace to lead good lives. Prayer Groups, like the Patriotic Rosary Group are the basics that will sustain our spirits to keep our faith strong and alive. Sodality of Mary Immaculate for Children | Sodality of Mary Immaculate is a ministry that seeks to foster extraordinary love and devotion for the Blessed Mother among children. When placed under the protection of the Holy Virgin, we can trust that she will lead us to a complete union with her Son. As her faithful children, we show our love for her by joining together in prayer at the 7:30 a.m. Saturday Mass held the first Saturday of the month. Following Mass, there is a very short meeting where devotional prayers are recited and a short lesson on one of the saints (or feasts) being celebrated that month. The Blessed Mother, in her messages to St. Catherine Laboure, wanted the month of May to be celebrated in a special way as outward signs of our devotion. As a result, this ministry participates in the Crowning of Mary on Mother’s Day each year. Established in May 1991 by Mrs. Claudette Sibille, the primary time commitment involved with participating in this ministry is attendance at St. Pius’ first Saturday Mass. Parents usually attend the Mass with Sodalists sitting together as a group in the front pews. Sodalists receive special awards for participating in five consecutive Masses, having perfect attendance, and completing each year in Sodality. If your child has made their First Communion, it would be an honor to have you and your child join us in our devotion to Mary.
