Barbara Abshire is the Sacramental Records Coordinator at St. Pius X Catholic Church where she is responsible for sacramental registration and scheduling, sacramental records and other administrative duties. On a mission to serve others with the joy of Christ, she is focused on creating a work environment that is welcoming and she is always willing to help. For Barbara, working with and serving parishioners, as they prepare to receive a sacrament, is the most rewarding part of her job.

Prior to taking on his/her role at St. Pius X, Barbara gained experience in serving others as a Station Manager in Abbeville, Lake Charles and Dulac, Louisiana, overseeing volunteers, construction and case management with the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Disaster Ministry, following Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and others. Before working in that field, Barbara worked many years as Substance Abuse/Violence Preventionist in middle schools for the Lafayette Parish School System.

In addition to being at St. Pius X since October, 2012, Barbara is also a wife and mother of nine. She
resides with her husband LeRoy in Lafayette. Barbara’s primary mission in life is living out her vocation
as wife, mother, and now grandmother of three.
