Policies and program, as set forth by the Diocese of Lafayette, recognize that sexual and other abusive misconduct with minors is a special problem with a profound impact on the lives of those affected. They are in place to provide for a safe environment for all children and persons who come in contact with those who minister, are employed, or volunteer in service of the Church.
When attending an initial training session at another location, please be sure to bring all necessary forms/paperwork with you to the training session. Be sure to Print your name on the Roster at the location. You can request these materials from your church parish/school Safe Environment Coordinator. If you plan on doing ANY volunteer work of any sort for SPES or St. Pius X Church where our Youth are involved, you MUST be Safe Environment Certified.

There is a new website from USCCB for helping keep children and families safe online: www.faithandsafety.org. The website is a partnership with the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and it is designed to be a place where families learn to see technology through the eyes of faith and stay safe online. The site offers guidance how to use the Internet, cell phones and video games safely, as well as protecting children’s privacy. We encourage you to share this website with your parents.
