Sodality of Mary Immaculate is a ministry that seeks to foster extraordinary love and devotion for the Blessed Mother among children. When placed under the protection of the Holy Virgin, we can trust that she will lead us to a complete union with her Son.
As her faithful children, we show our love for her by joining together in prayer at the 7:30 a.m. Saturday Mass held the first Saturday of the month. Following Mass, there is a very short meeting where devotional prayers are recited and a short lesson on one of the saints (or feasts) being celebrated that month. The Blessed Mother, in her messages to St. Catherine Laboure, wanted the month of May to be celebrated in a special way as outward signs of our devotion. As a result, this ministry participates in the Crowning of Mary on Mother’s Day each year.
Established in May 1991 by Mrs. Claudette Sibille, the primary time commitment involved with participating in this ministry is attendance at St. Pius’ first Saturday Mass. Parents usually attend the Mass with Sodalists sitting together as a group in the front pews. Sodalists receive special awards for participating in five consecutive Masses, having perfect attendance, and completing each year in Sodality.
If your child has made their First Communion, it would be an honor to have you and your child join us in our devotion to Mary. Please join us for the next first Saturday Mass on Saturday, October 2nd. This would be a good opportunity for your child to see what Sodality is like and decide if they wish to join.
