You are invited to a Saturday morning disaster response training at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Saturday, August 31st, 2024, organized by Catholic Charities of Acadiana. This session is designed to equip our parish community with the skills and knowledge to effectively assist our neighbors during times of disaster. RSVP for this training here: https://bit.ly/StPiusDisasterTraining2024.
The event will begin at 7:30 AM with the celebration of Holy Mass, reminding us of our call to serve as the hands and feet of Christ, especially during times of disaster. After Mass, leadership from Catholic Charities of Acadiana will present an overview of the Church's critical role in disaster response. Disasters offer a unique opportunity for us as Catholics to live out our faith, providing hope and healing to those in need.
The training will then move into practical sessions, where volunteers will learn essential skills such as disaster assessments, mucking and gutting homes, applying tarps on rooftops, and the safe use of chainsaws and essential machinery. These skills are crucial for effective disaster relief, ensuring our efforts are compassionate, safe, and effective.
We hope you will join us for this important training session and become part of our disaster response team.
