2021 Call to Give: St. Bernadette Community Clinic

World Homeless Day is an annually recognized day on October 10th designed to draw attention to people who experience homelessness locally and to provide opportunities for all of us to get involved in responding to it.  Representatives from Our Lady of Lourdes and Lourdes Foundation will be introducing you to the St. Bernadette Community Clinic, its services and how you may be able to help them continue to serve this local mission to help the homeless and needy at all the masses during that weekend. 

St. Bernadette Community Clinic was established in 1995 to address the health care deficits identified in a community survey conducted in collaboration with the Diocese of Lafayette.  With a small core staff and volunteers, this clinic provides non-emergent, acute medical services, screenings for early detection of cancer (mammograms, Pap smears, PSA and prostate exams), behavioral/mental health services and limited dental services to individuals living in Acadiana. The clinic is operated by Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and funded by Lourdes Foundation, a 501(c )(3) charitable organization.

This clinic provides approximately 3,200 medical visits per year valued at over $850,000 and 550 dental visits per year valued at $250,000.  To continue these services each year, Lourdes Foundation needs generous people like you to help.  If you’d like to give to the cause, there will be reply cards and mailing envelopes available to make a gift.  No gift is too small.

Your gift of:

• $25   buys protein shakes after tooth extraction for 4 patients
• $50   buys travel-size ibuprofen / acetaminophen for 25 patients
• $100 buys generic prescriptions for 25 patients
• $500 buys flu vaccinations for 50 patients

 

Checks should be made payable to Lourdes Foundation with St. Bernadette Clinic noted in the memo line.
